Frequently Asked Questions
Here Are The Answers To Some Of The More Common Questions We Encounter.
How does the treatment work?
Light energy pulses target the vessel causing the blood vessel to form a mass, eventually destroying the vessel and redirecting the blood flow which is reabsorbed into the body.
What results can I expect?
Even from your first treatment, patients can experience exceptional results. Often patients will find a small number of treatments are required to obtain the desired result. However, all patients’ considerations are taken into account & treatments will be recommended on the type of vessel, size and colour. Most patients will display results 2-6 weeks post treatment and some results may take several months depending on the severity.
What type of vessels can you treat?
Small facial veins (telangiectasia) can be treated quickly and with very effective results. Reticular & spider veins can also be treated with excellent results. Varicose veins cannot be treated and we recommend patients to a specialist, however we can treat the veins safely around the area. A detailed evaluation will be carried out during your consultation.
How do I prepare for treatment?
All patients require a consultation & patch test a minimum of 48 hours prior to treatment. It will be discussed at consultation the appropriate treatment time recommended for the procedure, 15 or 30 minutes are the treatment times recommended to patients.
Does the treatment have any downtime?
Some patients will experience some redness or bruising of the area and some localised swelling. Reactions which typically last for 24 hours. Larger veins that are treated may result in a tan or brownish pigment to the skin which may last a few weeks. Following the treatment we advise against any strenuous physical activity for 24-48 hours and limit sun exposure to the treated area. Following treatment to the legs, a support may be worn for a short period after the treatment.
What do you experience during the treatment?
Clients may experience an elastic band sensation or sting to the skin during the treatment. Although no local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required.
